Oats haven’t been a favourite with many in the past, but with its health benefits coming to light, people are now realising its worth and adding it as an important ingredient in their diets. Because oats can be grown even on the weakest soil, it was first grown as livestock feed. Later, around the 2000 BC, people in Poland and Scandinavia observed oats to be growing better there than wheat. The initial use of oats, except for serving the purposes of feeding animals was to make ale or beer. People used to sometimes ground oats into a flour and use it to make bread. The rest of the times, it was boiled with water and made into a thick soup. The humble ‘oats’ have come a long way since then. As it has got a delicate and bland taste, it can take up flavours really well. To find a grain that can absorb many flavours is otherwise difficult. They say you should try and find happiness in the little and simple things in life, and we think the best way to do that is to gorge on a plate of nachos. The little crisp tortilla chips loaded with generous amount of melted cheese and jalapenos are something to die for. Oh yes, these are triangles of happiness! The Tex-Mex treat, that has now gained fame all over the world.
